De Garde

Biere De Garde is a classic style of beer originating in the lowlands of northern France near the Belgian border. Traditionally these beers were malt forward using the Belgian style yeast flavors and aromas to complement the malt flavors. This iteration of the Biere De Garde style deviates slightly from tradition. It is copper in color and malt forward. Notes of light toffee with a dark toasted brioche flavor. The beer is fermented with our house Belgian yeast which lends a slightly melon-like aroma and black peppercorn flavor. [wpex more="Read more" less="Read less"] Deviating from tradition we used generous amounts of Saaz, Styrian Golding, Hallertau, and Tettnanger hops in this brew. The classic European hops enhance the malt and yeast characteristics with spicy, earthy and floral notes. Full attenuation and a noticeable light bitterness finish this beer clean and crisp.
