The Cure (2014)

Experimental hop “White” Pale Ale CBC is proud to brew and release The Cure as one of 38 craft brewers across the U.S. participating in the Ales for ALS™ campaign. We support ALS TDI’s mission to discover and develop effective treatments for ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Ales for ALS™ is a unique craft brewery-based fundraising initiative created to accelerate drug development for ALS patients today. [wpex more="Read more" less="Read less] As part of the program, participant brewers receive a special blend of experimental hops donated by B.T. Loftus Ranches and Hopunion. What are “experimental hops?” They are new varietals from the hop breeding program which have not yet been named and made available commercially to the brewing world. Five different varietals were chosen and blended for this beer by our good friends Vinnie Cilurzo, Ken Grossman, and John Mallett, of the Russian River, Sierra Nevada, and Bell’s breweries. From these hops, each brewer will brew a unique beer and donate a portion of the sales to ALS TDI. CBC’s contribution, “The Cure” is a pale ale brewed with barley, oats, and wheat. It focuses on the prominent notes of herbs, stone fruit, green apple, pine, tropical mango and floral character, and tangerine and lime citrus character, all provided by the hops. This amazing juicy hop character is balanced by the grains which provide a full body and hint of residual sweetness. The beer is quite hazy from the wheat and oats as well as polyphenols from the double-dryhopping regimen. Many people’s lives have been touched by ALS, a truly horrible disease. CBC’s first Head Brewer, Darryl Goss, battled the disease for six years before succumbing in 2012. The Ales for ALS campaign will raise greater awareness and further research to find a cure, and we honor our friend Darryl with this beer as well as those people who continue to struggle against this disease, and the men and women dedicated to its eradication. Thanks for enjoying this exceptional beer, and more importantly for joining us in the fight to cure ALS. Cheers! Teardrop $6[/wpex]
