Bannatyne’s Scotch Ale

Our famous Scotch Ale is back again as a late-seasonal offering to Old Man Winter, accompanying your brewers’ pleas for an end to all the snow. This strong ale style comes directly from Scotland, an ancestral recipe from the Clan of Bannatyne boasting a huge, complex malt character and very full body, which finishes with an herbal, hoppy dryness. [wpex more="Read more" less="Read less"] We craft this traditionally big, malty beer from a grist of imported English and Scottish pale malt (see, they can get along!) and a touch of roasted barley. The strong wort is caramelized in the kettle, fortified with a hint of molasses, and subjected to extended cold-conditioning to round out its myriad complexities. Monstrous malt character, and intriguing flavors of caramel, toffee, chocolate, and a hint of treacle are not uncommon to those perceptive of palate. So slip on that old kilt (wear whatever you want underneath- we’re pretty open-minded.) and enjoy! Teardrop $6.50[/wpex]
